Abstract

Śiavism is one of the oldest religious traditions in India. Śaiva tradition is basically a separate section of the various forms of other religious traditions, but until now Śiavism remains one of the components of the Hindu Dharma. The history and development of Śiavism tradition began when India was still in the period of the ancient Indus, the Mohenjodaro and Harappa (3000-2000 BC). Tradition Śiavism then continue to grow at each time in India, which includes three sub-periods consisting Veda Samhita Veda (1500-1000 BC), Brahmana (1000-750 BC), Upanishad (750-500 BCE), and the post-Vedic period, the Sutra era (500 BC-500 AD), the middle ages, even until the 20th century. Developments Śiavism tradition in India can be seen with many who embrace the Hindu sectarian Śaivite. Among the whole sectarian Śaiva, three prominent is Vira- Śaiva from Deccan-Karnataka, Śaiva -Siddhanta of Tamil Nadu, and Śaiva Advaita of Kashmir. Each follower sectarian Śaiva is a concrete representative of the principal stages of the system with the ultimate goal of the Vedanta advaita stage Śaiva.
