Abstract

Tale is a short story that is told orally and passed down through generations. Furthermore, according Dananjaja fairy tales are stories of people who are considered prose does not really happen (Dananjaja, 2002:83). Fairy tale is told primarily untu entertainment, although many also describe the truth,
containing lesson (moral), or even satire.
Aside from being a product of human reason or imagination, a fairy tale also has a function for readers.
In addition to entertainment tale also stores moral mandate to serve as education for children and readers.
This study will focus on the similarities that exist in five German fairy tale in the collection of "kinderund Hausmärchen" Grimm Brüder works by using the theory of structuralism, Lévi-Strauss and the theory of functions of William R. Bascom. And research method used is descriptive qualitative method.
The results: (1) the study found that five fairy tale of the same structure that each character has always suffered oppression stepson in his life, (2) In addition to having the same structure of five fairy stories that have been studied have differences in measures of repression, (3) investigated the function of the fifth tale is as a projection system or a reflection of a society. As well as education tools (pedagogical device).
