Abstract

Poetry is a form of human expression that is expressed indirectly, including poetry from foreign language (German). Poetry is also referred to as a collection of connotative meaning . There are six poems by Rainer Maria Rilke were analyzed in this study , namely ( 1 ) Gehst du außen Mauern entlang , kannst du die vielen Rosen , ( 2 ) Erste Rose Erwachen , ( 3 ) Die Rosenschale , ( 4 ) Das Rosen - Innere, ( 5 ) Heute will ich dir zu Liebe Rose fühlen ) , ( 6 ) Das VI . Sonette II . The sixth poem containing symbols of Rose. The research problem is : ( 1 ) what connotative meaning Rose in the sixth poem above and ( 2 ) why Rainer Maria Rilke used the symbol of the Rose in the sixth poem . The method used in this research is descriptive method of analysis with a qualitative approach . The technique of data analysis is descriptive analysis techniques . The results of this study are : ( 1 ) connotative meaning in the sixth poem of Rose Rainer Maria Rilke 's work is ( a) a unity, God ( b ) the life , ( c ) the dead, ( d ) love, and ( 2 ) the reason Rainer Maria Rilke using Rose symbol on the sixth poem is : ( a) Rose is a representation of God's relationship with his people , ( b ) Rose is an object that is considered to be able to realize the self-image of Rilke.
