Abstract

Language is a communication tool to convey a message. To be able to communicate the necessary tools or media. With language also think humans can regularly and systematically, and can communicate and express attitudes, feelings, and thoughts to others. In this case the language included in the scope of pragmatics. Which one of them is no science in the study of pragmatics deixis. Deixis is a word or linguistic unit that reference or meaning depending on the context (social or linguistic). And deixis also the referent of  a word or reference which moving or changing depending on who the speaker, and the moment when the speech was uttered.

The problems of this research are 1. Deixis what are used by the three figures (Sänger, Grüsche, Azdak) in the drama of  Der Kaukasische Kreidekreis by Bertolt Brecht. 2. How deixis usage by three figures (Sänger, Grüsche, Azdak) in the drama of Der Kaukasische Kreidekreis  by Bertolt Brecht.

The purpose of this study was to determine what deixis used by three figures (Sänger, Grüsche, Azdak) and describe the use deixis used by three figures (Sänger, Grüsche, Azdak) in the drama of Der Kaukasische Kreidekreis by Bertolt brecht

This research is a qualitative descriptive research. The data source of this research is the drama of Kaukasische Kreidekreis by Bertolt Brecht. was first published in the USA in 1944 with 131 numbered pages, 6 scenes and 48 characters. The data in this study are the dialogues, which are words, phrases, expressions and sentences spoken by three figures (Sänger, Grüsche, Azdak) to partners he said.

From these results obtained deixis types contained in the drama Der Kaukasische Kreidekreis consisting of personaledeixis, placedeixis, timedeixis und discoursedeixis.
