Thimplong Wayang art is an art that originates from the Nganjuk district. Thimplong puppet has their own characteristics compared to other wayang arts. This is seen in terms of the form of the performance, the form of wayang, wayang accompaniment, and also from the story. However, in the last two decades, Wayang Thimplong has received less public attention, especially interest in appreciating it. The purpose of this study is to examine how the Thimplong Puppet is formed and what is the role of the puppeteer Ki Suyadi in the existence of the Thimplong Puppet in Nganjuk Regency. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach to obtain a comprehensive picture of the subject matter. The location of this research is located in Bongkal Hamlet, Kepanjen Village, Pace District, Nganjuk Regency. The data obtained comes from primary data sources and secondary data sources. Data collection techniques used are observation techniques, interviews, and documentation. The data validation technique uses triangulation techniques, namely source triangulation, time triangulation, and method triangulation. Data analysis techniques through the stages of reduction, data presentation, and verification, then followed by drawing conclusions. The result of this study is the process of formation and regeneration carried out by Ki Suyadi in the existence of Wayang Thimplong in the Nganjuk district starting from adding elements of accompaniment, and jokes and giving his own style to the show. This development process aims to restore people's interest in appreciating the Thimplong Puppet.
