Abstrak

The purpose of this study is to describe the dance form "Sesanduran" by Sumardi. This study uses a qualitative method with the theory of form according to Sumandiyo Hadi. The data sources in this study were Sumardi as the choreographer, Purwo Suleksono as the music director, Efrin Umma as the dancer, and Ismiati as the fashion make-up artist. Data collection techniques using observation, interviews and documentation. Data analysis was carried out in a qualitative descriptive manner with data reduction steps, data presentation and drawing conclusions. Data validity uses source triangulation, method triangulation and time triangulation to prove the validity of the data.

The results showed that the new traditional dance "Sesanduran" presented at the 2014 Archipelago Dance Parade competition, was inspired by the movements of the Bancik Sandur scene consisting of six, Tutup buka kudhung, Bancik Endhog, Kendhi, Dengkul, Shoulders, and Kalongking with characteristic movements Tubanan. The title of the dance "Sesanduran" means playing Sandur, which describes the phases of human life from birth to passing away to the Almighty. Make-up and clothing arrangements are matched to look fresher, simpler and have a lively feel. Using Cawik clothes and gedog batik pants is a characteristic of Tuban. The iringan music is made exactly like Sandur's art with the kendhang and gong gong instruments. The place for the "Sesanduran" dance performance is held on a semi-open stage. Using the properties of rontek, eggs, kendhi, ubo rampe (offerings), and sampur. The "Sesanduran" dance is danced by nine female dancers, and three male supporting dancers to deceive the views of the jury and the audience.

From this it can be concluded that the Sesanduran Dance is a complex dance work from the point of view of its form, starting from dance moves, techniques, styles, floor patterns, musical accompaniment, make-up, clothing, dancers, props, and stage setting. Of the several forms in the Sesanduran dance, there are distinctive icons depicting the typical Tubanan dance moves, Sumardi's style of movement, musical accompaniment with the acapella technique, then clothing consisting of gedog batik motifs. Icon is one of the targets for the identification of characteristics by Sumardi so that Tuban is better known outside the region through the works he creates.
