Abstract

^{This qualitative study aims to describe in depth the performance structure and analyze the creative process of K-Pop dance within the Ace Dance Management Community in Surabaya. Data were gathered through participatory observation at Marvel City Mall Surabaya, in-depth interviews, and audiovisual documentation, then analyzed using Y. Sumandiyo Hadi’s (2017) performance theory and Alma M. Hawkins’s (2003) creative process theory. The results indicate that the community’s performance structure integrates modern elements with local culture by stylizing traditional dances from Kalimantan and Bali into original choreography (such as BTS's Airplane Pt.2), combined with lifting techniques and flexible spatial formations. The musical arrangement utilizes audio mixing with faster tempos (such as Like Jennie – EDM Remix), complemented by Korean stage makeup (inspired by BABYMONSTER's SHEESH), conceptual costume design, and interactive stage expressions. This creative synthesis is realized through Hawkins’s three systematic stages: exploration via digital media and brainstorming, improvisation through original dance break creation and audio mixing, and forming through phased rehearsals and periodic evaluations, ultimately producing an adaptive, competitive, and culturally distinct K-Pop performance.}
