PENGARUH MEDIA VIDEO ANIMASI TERHADAP KEMAMPUAN MENULIS TEKS EKSPLANASI SISWA KELAS VIII SMP N 13 SURABAYA TAHUN PEMBELAJARAN 2017/2018

Pada kurikulum 2013 terdapat materi yang berkaitan dengan menulis, satu di antaranya menulis teks eksplanasi. Kemampuan menulis siswa untuk mendapatkan nilai hasil belajar berdasarkan Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal/KKM dapat dikatakan jauh dari keberhasilan.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan penerapan media video animasi dalam pembelajaran menulis teks eksplanasi, pengaruh media video animasi terhadap kemampuan menulis teks eksplanasi, dan repon siswa setelah pembelajaran menulis teks eksplanasi menggunakan media video animasi.

Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian esperimen dengan metode deskriptif kuantitatif. Penelitian ini termasuk jenis true eksperimental design atau penelitian yang sebenar-benarnya. Penelitian ini dilakukan melalui dua tahap yaitu pretes dan postes. Pretes dilakukan sebelum mendapatkan perlakuan, sedangkan postes dilakukan setelah mendapatkkan perlakuan.

Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kemampuan menulis teks eksplanasi siswa kelas VIII SMP N 13 Surabaya sebelum mendapatkan perlakuan berupa materi dan media video animasi masih rendah. Hal tersebut terbukti dari hasil nilai pretes kelas kontrol dan kelas eksperimen yang belum memenuhi Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimal/KKM yaitu 78. Nilai rerata siswa kelas kontrol yaitu 73,58 dan rerata nilai siswa kelas eksperimen yaitu 63,16.

Hasil postes untuk mengetahui kemampuan menulis teks eksplanasi siswa kelas VIII SMP N 13 Surabaya sesudah mendapatkan perlakuan berupa materi dan media video animasi. Hasil postes kelas kontrol dan kelas eksperimen mengalami peningkatan. Hal tersebut dapat dilihat dari nilai rerata postes kelas kontrol yaitu 82,53 dan sebanyak 26 siswa yang mendapatkan nilai di atas KKM. Rerata nilai postes kelas eksperimen yaitu 84,76 dan siswa yang nilainya memenuhi KKM sebanyak 32 siswa.

Hasil perhitungan uji t diperoleh t0 = 3,37 dengan d.b = 72. Hal tersebut menunjukkan t hitung lebih besar daripada t tabel yakni t0 = 3,37 > 2,00. Berdasarkan hasil perhitungan tersebut dapat diketahui penggunaan media video animasi berpengaruh positif terhadap pembelajaran menulis teks eksplanasi siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 13 Surabaya. Hal itu juga terbukti dari lembar angket yang diberikan pada siswa. Hasil angket respon siswa kelas eksperimen menunjukkan bahwa hampir seluruh siswa memilih Sangat Setuju (SS) dan Setuju (S).

Abstract

There are many writing related material in 2013 curriculum, and one of them is to write explanatory text. The writing ability of the current students to achieve learning results score based on the minimum criterion / KKM can be categorized as far from success.

This research aims to describe the application of video animation media in the learning of writing explanatory text, to describe the effect of video animation media on the ability to write explanatory text, and to describe students’ response towards explanatory text learning lesson which applies video animation as the media.

The type of research used is experimental research with descriptive quantitative method. This research can be categorized as true experimental design and is done through two stages; pre-test and post-test. The pre-test was conducted before the treatment, while the post-test was conducted after the treatment.

The research findings showed that the ability of eight grade students of SMP N 13 Surabaya in writing explanatory text before getting the treatment in the form of material and video animation media was still low. The evident came from the results of pre-test from control class and experimental class which has not met the minimum criterion / KKM of 78. The mean score of the control class’ students is 73,58 and the mean score of the experimental class’ students is 63,16.

Meanwhile, the result of post-test is used to measure the ability of eight grade students of SMP N 13 Surabaya in writing explanatory text after getting the treatment in the form of material and video animation media. The post-test result of control class and experiment class has increased. It can be seen from the mean score of control class, which is 82,53 and as many as 26 students have achieved scores above KKM. Furthermore, the mean score of experimental class was 84,76 with students whose scores fulfilled the KKM were up to 32 students.

The result of the t test obtained is t0 = 3,37 with d.b = 72. It shows that t value is larger than t on the table which is t0 = 3,37 > 2,00. Based on these results it can be concluded that the use of video animation media is positively affecting the learning of explanatory text writing lesson of eight grade students in SMP Negeri 13 Surabaya. It is further proven in the questionnaire results which were given to the students. The result from the questionnaire in experimental class showed that a large number of students chose Strongly Agree (SS) and Agree (S).
