Abstract

This study aims to develop a pronunciation flipbook with the help of AI in its development, which is specifically designed to improve pronunciation skills as a basic level BIPA learning medium. The urgency of this study is motivated by the finding that there is no specific pronunciation medium at BIPA Unesa, even though this phonology material is crucial but very difficult for learners to master. The research method used is Research and Development (R&D) that adapts the Borg and Gall model. This R&D approach was chosen to determine the comprehensive quality of the product, which includes aspects of validity, effectiveness, and practicality. The subjects of this study were a small class of basic BIPA learners at UNESA who came from various countries. Data collection techniques used interviews, which were essential for the needs analysis stage, and questionnaires to test product quality. All collected data were then analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively (mixed method) to obtain valid results. The results of the study show that the media development process has successfully adapted 7 of the 10 steps of the Borg and Gall model. These stages include: (1) Potential and problems, (2) Data collection, (3) Product design, (4) Product validation, (5) Product revision, (6) Product testing, and (7) Final product revision. With the completion of the final revision stage, the flipbook media product has been declared to meet substantive and technical standards and is ready to be used as an independent learning tool to address learning problems.
