KONFLIK BATIN TOKOH DALAM NOVEL FANTASI ILMIAH BINTANG HITAM KARYA DJOKOLELONO
Abstract
Abstract
This study analyzes the representation of inner conflict in the character Kamandhalu in the science fantasy novel Bintang Hitam by Djokolelono. The inner conflicts studied include fear, doubt, regret, and moral dilemma using a descriptive qualitative approach and Freud's psychoanalytic theory. The research data in the form of quotations in the novel that describe the inner conflict of the main character, analyzed based on the concepts of id, ego, and superego. The results of the study indicate that fear functions as an instinctive response to physical threats and moral pressure that encourages a process of reflection and more mature decision-making. The feeling of doubt arises as a manifestation of the conflict between adherence to rules and intuition, which enriches the psychological dimension of the character. Regret becomes a means of introspection that increases emotional maturity and moral responsibility of Kamandhalu. The moral dilemma depicts the tension between adherence to norms and human values, becoming the main source of conflict that adds depth to the narrative and characterization. The implications of these findings are important for the development of character education and literature learning, especially to foster empathy, emotional intelligence, and reflective thinking skills in students. The novel Bintang Hitam is recommended as an effective learning medium for character formation through discussions of psychological and ethical values in the context of science fiction. Further research is recommended to expand the study by comparing other works and incorporating local cultural perspectives to reduce interpretation bias.
