RAGAM BAHASA GAUL GEN Z DI KANAL “KOMUNITAS MARAH-MARAH” APLIKASI X: KAJIAN SOSIOLINGUISTIK
Abstract
The development of social media has given rise to new linguistic practices that function not only as markers
of generational identity but also as media for emotional expression. One prominent phenomenon is the use
of slang by Generation Z to express anger in digital spaces. This study aims to analyze the characteristics of
Generation Z slang, its social functions, and the social factors influencing its use in the “Komunitas Marah
Marah” channel on the X platform. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach. The data
consist of text-based utterances anonymously posted by users of the “Komunitas Marah-Marah” channel.
Data were collected through documentation techniques and analyzed using a digital sociolinguistic
framework. The findings indicate that the slang used by Generation Z is characterized by abbreviations,
neologisms, hyperbolic expressions, and sarcasm, which function as tools for emotional release. Beyond
linguistic creativity, slang serves to build group solidarity, reinforce digital community identity, and create
an egalitarian communication space. Social factors such as anonymity, intensity of digital interaction, age,
and emotional context significantly influence language choice. These findings highlight that slang in the
“Komunitas Marah-Marah” channel functions as both an emotional expression medium and a social
practice reflecting the dynamics of Generation Z communication in the digital era.
