Abstract

ABSTRACT

This study examines the inner conflict of the main character in the novel Rasa by Tere Liye using the humanistic psychology of Abraham Maslow. The purpose of this study is to describe the inner conflict of the main character in the novel using the humanistic psychology of Abraham Maslow. The inner conflict of Linda is studied based on Maslow's five levels of hierarchy of needs, namely physiological needs, safety, love and belonging, self-esteem, and self-actualization. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with data collection techniques in the form of literature studies, recording, and documentation. The data source used in this study is the novel Rasa by Tere Liye. The results of the study show that Linda experiences inner conflict at all five levels of needs. The most dominant inner conflict is in the need for love and belonging, which is reflected in wounds due to wounds and trauma from father figures, conflicts in romantic relationships, and the destruction of friendships. The research findings prove that unfulfilled needs at one level directly hinder the fulfillment of needs at the next level.
