ABSTRACT
This study examines the representation of urban lifestyle in the characters of the film through a film narrative approach, Stuart Hall’s representation theory, and Pierre Bourdieu’s concept of capital. This study aims to identify how narrative elements, language, and signs in the film represent urban lifestyle through economic capital, cultural capital, and social capital in Viktor’s character. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with data analysis techniques through the identification of storylines, dialogues, character actions, properties, and social interactions presented in the film. The results show that Viktor’s urban lifestyle is represented through the development of the storyline, which illustrates changes in identity, the achievement of social status, property ownership, the use of false documents, social relationships, and involvement in economic and administrative systems. Through language and signs, the film constructs representations of how individuals build identities and obtain social positions within an urban environment. This study demonstrates that urban lifestyle in the film is not only represented through material aspects but also through individual strategies in constructing identity, utilizing social relations, and adapting to existing social structures.
Keywords: representation, urban lifestyle, film, narrative structure.
