INTROVERT THINKING SEBAGAI TIPE KEPRIBADIAN DOMINAN TOKOH JOSEF K. DALAM NOVEL "DER PROZESS" KARYA FRANZ KAFKA

Abstract

Literary psychology is an approach that examines the psychological dimensions of their behavior, thoughts, and emotions. Frans Kafka’s Der Prozess presents Josef K. as a protagonist with a complex psychological condition, making the novel relevant for personality analysis. This study aims to identify the personality type of Josef K. based on Carl Gustav Jung’s personality typology. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method with a literary psychology approach. The data source was the German novel Der Prozess by Franz Kafka. Data were collected using the reading and note-taking technique by identiying quaotations the reflected Josef K.’s personality traits. The collected data were analyzed through data reduction, data classification according to Jung’s personality indicators, data interpretation, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed 81 data representing introverted personality types. The dominant personality type was Introverted Thinking with 50 data, followed by Introverted Feeling (13 data), Introverted Sensing (12 data), and Introverted Intuition (6 data). The dominance of Introverted Thinking indicates that Josef K. predominantly responds to situations through logical reasoning, critical analysis, and internal reflection rather than emotional expression or external influence. These findings demonstrate that Jung’s personality typology provides an effective framework for understanding the psychological complexity of literary characters and contributes to the development of literary psychologi studies, particulary in the analysis of character personality in literary works.
