MAKNA KEBAHASAAN KUMPULAN PUISI "REGENTONENNVARIATIONEN" KARYA JAN WAGNER

Abstract

This study aims to describe the linguistic meaning (meaning) of five poems in the poetry collection Regentonnenvariationen by Jan Wagner through heuristic reading based on Michael Riffaterre’s theory of poetic semiotics. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive analytical method. The data sources of this study are five poems, namely “giersch”, “die Tümmler”, “Regentonnenvariationen”, “nagel”, and “im Brunnen”. The research data consist of textual units in the form of words, phrases, lines, and stanzas analyzed through lexical meaning, grammatical structure, heuristic paraphrasing, and elements of ungrammaticality. Data collection techniques were carried out through literature study using reading and note-taking methods, while data analysis was conducted through heuristic reading by referring to the Digitales Wörterbuch der deutschen Sprache (DWDS) and German grammar Duden (2022). The results show that the linguistic meaning of the five poems is centered on concrete objects that become the basis of poetic representation. In addition, elements of ungrammaticality were found in the form of discrepancies between linguistic signs and the reality they refer to, requiring heuristic reading to obtain the first level of meaning. Therefore, the linguistic meaning in the five poems is obtained through the relationship between lexical meaning, grammatical structure, linguistic context, and heuristic paraphrasing.
