Plants are one element that can not be separated from humans, especially the Japanese. In Japan, it is frequently found that Japanese proverbs contain plant vocabularies. Proverb is one of varieties of a language that is usually used in daily communication activities to express something that can not be delivered by using common words (Hanindar and Andini,2017:1). To understans the intended meanings, a reaserch needs to be done about Japanese proverbs using plant vocabularies, especially the analysis about the types of proverbs and to know the conotative meanings.

This study aims to describe the types of proverbs that contain plant word elements and to know the conotative meanings. To answer the two research questions, theories are used related to the connotative meanings by Parera, and the theory of meanings in proverbs by Pateda.

This study uses descriptive qualitative methods to describe the analized data in details. The data in this research are proverbs ? containing plant ?? and the data sources are found in Twitter by using the keyword ? ? ? ?.

From the data, it was found there were 4 proverbs that were used to express satirical content, so these data belong to proverb type A. 3 proverbs, bautiful words, were found which related to life lessons, so these data belong to proverb type B. 6 proverbs which were used to give a moral message, so these data belong to proverb type C. 3 proverbs, a recognized historical background, were found, so these data belong to proverb type D. 2 proverbs which were thecombination of several words were found, so these data belong to proverb type E. And 2 proverbs which were phrases were commonly used in everyday life, so these data belong to proverb type F. And its conotative meaning of each proverbs.
