Abstract
This study aims to determine what are the constraints experienced Japanese language teachers in implementing
online learning during the pandemic covid-19 seen from the internal and external factors as well as a solution that
is made to overcome these constraints. This research uses qualitative methods with a descriptive approach. Data
collection was done by distributing questionnaires and conducting interviews to the teachers of the Japanese
language. Interviews were conducted to six people to become Japanese language teachers from different schools
to find out the constraints faced by every teacher of the Japanese language during online learning seen from the
external and internal factors as well as the solution is to overcome these obstacles.
The results of this study are of all the obstacles that have been presented from the results of questionnaire and
interview, whether caused by internal and external factors in this study are in line with the theory put forward by
Taufiqurrochman about advantages and disadvantages of learning online. In addition, 16.7% of the respondents
have obstacles such as the lack of communication between teachers and students that can hinder the process of
learning online and are becoming a constraint on internal factors. While 66.7% of the respondents also answered
the quota of the internet and as many as 83,3% of respondents answered the signal devices are not stable as a
constraint in the process of online learning seen from the external factors.
