Abstract

Abstract

Introduction of learning Japanese begins with the characters. In Japanese there are kinds of characters
must be learned, namely Romaji, Hiragana, Katakana, and Kanji. Hiragana is necessary to understand so
that it is easier for students to learn Japanese. Hiragana which is similar to others characters are one of the
factors difficulty in learning Japanese.
Therefore, the researcher developed Hiramaru (Hiragana puzzle) to learn hiragana. Hiramaru media
development proses uses Sugiyono research and development theory. The purpose of this research describes
the Hiramaru media's development process and to find the evaluation of material expert and media expert.
Hiramaru is a visual puzzle media consisting of 46 hiragana puzzle from ?to?. Every puzzle there is
consist a puzzle game, steps to write Hiragana and Romaji so that it can help the students in learning
Hiragana.
The result of this development research is based on the feasibility of the media. Media expert gave an
assessment of 80%, while material expert gave an assessment of 75% which can be inferred as an strong
categories according to Likert scale. This shows that the media is feasible to use.
