Abstract
Communication is a human social activity carried out with the main purpose of exchanging information. To ensure
the exchange of information that occurs takes place properly and effectively, it requires cooperation between
speakers as information givers and speech partners as recipients of information. In pragmatics, Paul Grice explained
that there are 4 maxims in the cooperative principle, namely the maxim of quantity, maxim of quality, maxim of
relevance and maxim of manner. Violation of one or more of these maxims will lead to implicatures or other
meanings in the speech. This study aims to find out the forms of violation of the maxim of cooperation principle and
conversational implicature contained in the anime entitled Moriarty the Patriot (憂国のモリアーティ) season 1
which consists of 11 episodes. This research is a descriptive qualitative research with the results in the form of
description compiled based on the data that has been obtained. Data processing in this study used tapping
techniques and note-taking techniques. In this study, 41 violations of the cooperative principle were found,
consisting of 8 data on maxim of quantity violations, for example when Houston tried to evade by being
uninformative in his speech 「えっ...あっ それは...」(Eh?! A-Aa... this...) in the episode 11; 15 data of
violation of maxim of quality, for example Enders's statement which denies the facts in episode 7「 バカな... あり
えない！ あいつは私が この手で！」 (Don't joke... Impossible! I already killed him with my own hands!); 9
data violation of relevance maxims, for example when Argleton tries to avoid the topic in episode 2 「失礼する.
急用を思い出したのでね」 (Sorry, I just remembered I have an urgent matter to attend to); and 9 data on
violation of the maxim of manner, for example when Eden said 「もし...犯人が誰か分かれば...」(If only... I
knew who the culprit was) in episode 2. From these violations, 29 data resulted in general conversational
implicatures, such as in the words Albert said in episode 2 「いえ... あまり家にいたくないので」 (No... I don't
want to stay at home...) which gives an implicature that he is not comfortable with the conditions in his house; and
12 data produces special conversational implicatures, as in the words Albert said 「すばらしい催し物があると聞
きましてね」 (I came because I heard there will be an extraordinary show) in his conversation with a noble in
episode 6, where the so-called extraordinary show he meant had different meaning with what the noble had in mind.

コミュニケーションは、情報交換を主な目的として行われる人間の社会的活動です。発生する情報交換が適
切かつ効果的に行われるようにするためには、情報提供者としての話者と情報の受信者としてのスピーチパ
ートナーとの協力が必要です。語用論では、ポール・グライスは、協調の原理には4つの格言、すなわち量
の公理、質の公理、関係の公理、様態の公理があると説明しました。これらの公理の1つまたは複数に違反
すると、スピーチに含意または他の意味が生じます。 この研究の目的は憂国のモリアーティシーズン
1(Moriarty the Patriot Season 1)というアニメにある第 1 話から第 11 話までに協調の原則違反と含み
の種類を見い出すこと。この研究は、得られたデータに基づいて編集された記述形式の結果を伴う記述的な
定性的調査です。この研究のデータ処理では、タッピング手法とメモ取り手法を使用しました。この研究では、協調の原理の違反が41件見つかりました。量の公理の違反に関する8のデータで、たとえば、ヒュース
トンが第 1１ 話で情報を提供しないことで回避しようとした場合 「えっ...あっ それは...」; 質の公理の
違反に関する15のデータ、たとえば、第 ７ 話にエンダースが事実を否定する「 バカな... ありえない！
あいつは私が この手で！」; 関係の公理の違反に関する９のデータ、たとえば、アーグルトンが第 ２ 話
のトピックを回避しようとした場合「失礼する. 急用を思い出したのでね」；様態の公理の違反に関する９
のデータ、たとえば、第 ２ 話でエデンが「もし...犯人が誰か分かれば...」と言った場合で構成されていま
す。これらの違反から、29のデータは一般的な会話の含意をもたらしまして、例えば第 ２ 話にアルバート
が言った言葉のように「いえ... あまり家にいたくないので」 では、彼が家の状態に慣れていないことを示
唆していました。あと12のデータは、特別な会話の含意を生み出して、例えば第 ６ 話の貴族との会話でア
ルバートが言った言葉のように「すばらしい催し物があると聞きましてね」。
