Abstract

Communication in social relations, is not about expressing intent to the listener, but about understanding the
listener's feelings by using polite language. Japanese people are known to be polite and careful in expressing
their true feelings. It is related to one of their cultures known as honne and tatemae. The purpose in this
research are divided into two goals, (1) to describe the form of compliance with maxims according to Leech's
politeness principles in the anime Gekijouban Natsume Yuujinchou: Utsusemi no Musubu, (2) to describe
the level of politeness between characters in the anime Gekijouban Natsume Yuujinchou: Utsusemi no
Musubu, where adherence to maxims is measured using the Leech politeness scale. This research is a
qualitative research using descriptive analysis methods, namely by describing the data obtained through the
speeches in the anime Gekijouban Natsume Yuujinchou: Utsusemi ni Mususbu Leech into narrative form.
The theory used in this research is the theory of politeness principles by Leech (1983). Through data analysis,
33 data were obtained in the form of politeness maxim, which were divided into six groups of maxims. These
data were then used to identify politeness scale which obtained 41 data, which were divided into 5 groups.

要旨

会話によるコミュニケーションは、相手に意思を伝えるだけではなく、丁寧な表現から相手の
気持ちを理解することも必要である。 日本人は相手に対して、本当の気持ちを出さないという
習慣がある。これは本音と建前という文化と深く関係している。日本人の人と人の和保つこと
を優先する為に行われている。この研究の目的は 二つある、(1) アニメ『劇場版 夏目友人
帳 :うつせみに結ぶ』におけるリーチのポライトネス理論(人間関係の距離を調整するための
言語的な配慮)から原理を従う形で説明すること、(2) アニメ『劇場版 夏目友人帳 :うつせ
みに結ぶ』におけるその原理を従う会話から丁寧さのレベルがポライトネススケールで測るこ
とである。この研究は定性的(物事を数値化できない要素のこと)であるため、記述的分析の
方法を用いる、アニメ『劇場版 夏目友人帳 :うつせみに結ぶ』の会話から得られたデータで
説明する。 使用された理論は Leech (1983) によるポライトネス理論である。原理(Maxims)
データの分析より、 33 個の データが得られ、6 種類に分類された。 次に、原理のデータよ
り、ポライトネススケールで測る 41 個のデータが得られ、5 種類に分類された 。アニメ「劇場
版 夏目友人帳 空蝉に結ぶ」の研究を通じて、謙遜をもっと高めて、傲慢を低める。 また、相
手同士との利益を高めて、話しがもっと丁寧になれる。
