Abstract

This study aims to describe the effect of using Project Based Learning model on Japanese vocabulary
mastery (goi) of 11th grade students of SMAN 1 Sidoarjo. This researchis an experimental research using
pre-test and post-test design. The population in this study were students of grade XI SMAN 1 Sidoarjo.
Sampling using Simple Random Sampling technique and obtained class XI 10 as the control class and class
XI 11 as the experimental class. The control class and the experimental class have the same number of
students, namely 34 students. Data collection methods using tests and questionnaires. The data analysis
technique used in this study was the Independent Sample T-Test test. The results of this study indicate that
the two-party significance value (2-tailed) with a significance level of 5% is 0.039 or less than 0.05. From
these results it can be concluded that there is a significant difference inthe effect on the mastery of Japanese
noun vocabulary of students in class XI-11 who use the Project Based Learning model.
