Pelanggaran Maksim Percakapan pada Prinsip Kerjasama Grice dalam Film Ballon Tahun 2018 Karya Michael Herbig

Abstract

Language is a means of communication. As social beings, humans cannot be separated from a language that
functions as a means of communication in social life. By using language, humans can express feelings,
convey desires, and argue opinions. The communication process requires cooperation between speakers and
listeners. There is a set of assumptions that surround and control conversational activity as a language act.
This principle is not always adhered to. Many violations of the principle of cooperation in a communication
or conversation activity are found. This study aimed to describe the maxim violations that occur in the 2018
Ballon film using Grice’s Cooperative Principle theory. This study used the listening and taking note
methods. The result of this study showed that there were 4 maxim violations of quantity, 4 maxim violations
of quality, 4 maxim violations of relevance, and 3 maxim violations of manners.
