Teknik Penerjemahan Kata-Kata Budaya dalam Artikel pada Majalah Nadi Volume 28 Tahun 2021

Abstract

According to Baker (1992:21) culture word is a specific word in the source language that refers to conveying unknown cultural concepts in the target language. Therefore, it is important to conveying information in a foreign language to make translation adjustments by using translation techniques that are in accordance with the target language. In this study, the research source is an article in NADI magazine volume 28 of 2021. This study aims to describe the translation techniques of cultural words in articles in NADI magazine volume 28 of 2021. The research method used is qualitative method. From the analysis conducted, researchers found 21 cultural words data. From these data, based on the analysis of the article, 6 cultural words were found based on Espindola and Vasconcellos' theory of cultural words and 12 translation techniques based on Molina and Albir's theory of translation techniques. The cultural words are 3 Toponym, 6 Form of Entertainment, 1 Means of transportation, 3 Legal System, 6 Local Institution, and 2 Scholastic Reference. The translation techniques found are 1 adaptations, 1 adaptation and amplification, 1 adaptation and pure borrowing, 2 amplifications, 1 amplification and modulation, 3 pure borrowing, 1 calque, 1 compensation, 1 compensation and description, 2 established equivalents, 1 generalization, 1 generalization and compensation, 2 literal translation, 1 particularization, 1 particularization and established equivalents, 2 reductions.
