TEKNIK MODULASI DALAM ARTIKEL BERITA DEUTSCHE WELLE
Abstract
This study aims to describe the use of modulation technique in the translation of Deutsche Welle (DW) news articles from German into Indonesian. Modulation is used when the structure or perspective of the source language does not align with that of the target language, leading the translator to alter the form of expression without changing the meaning. The data for this study consist of five Asia-themed DW news articles in both German and Indonesian versions. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach with documentation methods and analysis based on the theory of Molina and Albir (2002). The results show that 48 data instances applied the modulation technique. This technique was used to create sentence structures that are more natural, communicative, and conform to the norms of the Indonesian language. These findings emphasize the importance of modulation in maintaining the acceptability of translated international news texts.
