PELANGGARAN MAKSIM KUALITAS DALAM HUMOR SERIAL KONTEN YOUTUBE “NICHT LACHEN”

Abstract

The maxim of quality is one of the important aspects in realizing an effective and efficient communication. However, there are some cases where the maxim of quality is not being followed, for example in delivering humor. People tend to violate the maxim of quality when delivering humor in order to make a humorous effect that cannot be obtained by obeying it. This kind of violation of the maxim of quality can be found in the humor of the YouTube series "Nicht lachen". Therefore, this research aims to describe the form of violation of the maxim of quality in the humor of the YouTube series "Nicht lachen" and the purpose of the violation. This research uses a qualitative research method and three videos from the YouTube series "Nicht lachen" as its data sources. The data in this research is speeches in the form of dialogue that contain humor with violation of the maxim of quality. The speech was collected using the listening and note taking technique and analyzed using the Grice's cooperative principle. The results of the analysis show that the humor of the YouTube series "Nicht lachen" contains violations of the maxim of quality in two forms, namely speech containing lies and speech containing figures of speech. The purposes of these violations are to deceive the interlocutor and to add more funniness to the humor.
