This research aims to describe the use of social deictics in the form of greetings found in Ludwig Bechstein's fairy tales. A qualitative descriptive approach using the observation-recording technique will be employed to describe the use of social deictics in the form of greetings in the fairy tales Vom tapferen Schneiderlein, Vom Schwaben, der das Leberlein gefressen, Das Rotkäppchen, and Der alte Zauberer und seine Kinder by Ludwig Bechstein. The research data consists of words or sentences in the form of dialogues containing social deictics in these fairy tales. The data analysis technique involves identifying, classifying, and explaining the use of social deictics in the form of greetings in fairy tales, which are divided into four categories that form the basis of social deictics: age, living environment, social proximity, and social status in society. Social deictics reflect or form specific social situations in which the speech event occurs. Through folktales, social deictics can reveal social structures, gender roles, power dynamics, and other social dynamics hidden behind the story. This study found that social deictics can be identified based on specific situations and conditions between the speaker and the addressee in a speech event in the form of dialogue within the folktale. Social deictics can take the form of honorifics that describe the social relationship between the speaker and the addressee.
