Teknik Amplifikasi Linguistik dalam Kumpulan Artikel ‘Being Kafka/Menjadi Kafka’ yang Dimuat pada Website Goethe-Institut Jerman dan Indonesia
Abstract
This study aims to describe the use of the linguistic amplification technique in the translation of the article collection “Being Kafka/Menjadi Kafka” published on the Goethe-Institut websites in Germany and Indonesia. Linguistic amplification is applied when the translator adds certain linguistic elements in the target language to clarify meaning or adjust grammatical structure without altering the core message of the source language. The data of this study consist of five “Being Kafka/Menjadi Kafka” articles in German and Indonesian versions. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach using documentation methods and analysis based on the translation technique theory proposed by Molina and Albir (2002). The findings indicate that 36 data instances apply the linguistic amplification technique, which is used to clarify relationships between linguistic units and enhance the comprehensibility of the target text.
