Abstract

Teacher job satisfaction is an indicator of the quality of an effective school organization. Effective schools are led by principals who have a clear vision, mission and academic goals, assume responsibility for instructional leadership and are accountable for the results. In line with this statement, teacher job satisfaction cannot be separated from the instructional leadership abilities of a school principal. Therefore, the aim of this research is to analyze the condition of school principal leadership, teacher job satisfaction, and the influence of both on state high schools in the city of Surabaya today. This research uses quantitative research methods. This research uses two variables, namely instructional leadership (x) and teacher job satisfaction (y). In the instructional leadership variable (x) researchers used Hallinger Murphy's theory. When it comes to the teacher job satisfaction variable (y), the researcher refers to Warr's theory. The instrument used in this research was a Google form. The validity test results of the entire instrument for the two variables raised are valid. In the reliability test results from the instrument trials carried out the results were reliable or consistent. The data description of variable x shows that the highest indicator is achieved by communicating school goals and encouraging professional development at 57.5%, while the time indicator is the highest in the data description of variable y at 66.6%. In this research, the researcher used simple linear regression analysis and T test analysis with the help of SPSS 26. The results of the research obtained using a simple linear regression analysis test showed that instructional leadership (x) had a positive effect on teacher job satisfaction (y) so that the regression equation is Y=64.551+1.038X. Based on the results of the T test analysis, it shows that there is an important influence of instructional leadership (x) on teacher job satisfaction (y).
