RANCANG BANGUN FIN TIPE HELICAL PADA PENUKAR PANAS DOUBLE PIPE
Developments in science and technology (IPTEK) have shown a significant increase. Many types of heat exchangers are designed and used in power plants and refrigeration units as aids in industrial work cycles. Fin is one of the important components of a double pipe heat exchanger, fin is used as a thermal barrier in the heat energy transfer process which serves to provide indirect contact or residence time for the working fluid. The purpose of this study was to design a helical type fin on a double pipe heat exchanger based on the TEMA standard which is expected to have good performance. The object of this research is the helical fin in a double pipe heat exchanger with a helical fin pitch of 40 mm, the type of fin used is helical. Data retrieval is obtained by using a thermocontrol measuring instrument and a flowmeter. It has been successfully developed a helical type fin on a double pipe heat exchanger that can work well in exchanging two fluids (water) counterflow with a cold fluid flow capacity of 6 lpm and a hot fluid flow of 4 lpm with an effectiveness of 14.8%, and there is no system leakage. when physically tested. Thus this heat exchanger can be used to simulate the convection heat transfer process in the heat exchanger.
