Abstract

Energy needs increase significantly, along with population growth and technological advances. New Renewable Energy (EBT) is a solution to the uncontrollable increase in energy demand. Gasification is the conversion of solid fuels into combustible gases (H2, CO, CH4, CO2) through a combustion process using compressed air. The purpose of this study was to test the differences in the characteristics of the pecan shell biomass before and after the gasification process, to test the blower rotation whether it could affect the percentage of content and syngas characteristics, to test the most optimal rpm variation on the exhauster in the gasification of candlenut shells to the percentage content and syngas characteristics. This research method uses a true experimental method with a post-test only control design. Data were collected by selected documentation and observation methods. The variables used in this study are the rpm variations of the exhauster, with variations of 1200 rpm, 1400 rpm, 1600 rpm and 1800 rpm.The results showed that there was a difference before and after the gasification process where fixed carbon from 8.254% to 9.2%, ash content from 3.247% to 7.33%, volatile matter from 80.952% to 12.38%, and from fixed carbon 15.801%. to 70.6% after the gasification process. The best results were obtained at 1200 rpm with a percentage of CO 11.36%, CH2 2.34%, H2 15.35%, CO2 8.73%, with an LHV value of 3929.96 Kj/m3.
