REDESAIN KONDENSOR AMONIAK UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KAPASITAS PRODUKSI

Abstract

Fertilizer production always increases every year until the demand exceeds the capacity that can be processed by the equipment, so equipment that can process higher production capacity is needed without changing the external geometry which can disrupt the piping system in this case the ammonia condenser. The redesign process complies with TEMA, ASME Section VIII, and API standards. The results obtained in the form of a new design specification using a tube thickness of 1.829, an outer diameter of 22.2 mm, a pitch of 28.58 mm, and a number of tubes of 6113 with an overdesign value of 40.7% or an increase of 18.5% from the original design while tube and shell pressure drop increased by 2.33% and 0.01%, respectively. The cooling water pump power is 1100 kWatt. The new design Bundle tubes are 3837 kg lighter due to the thinner tube thickness, resulting in a cost saving of Rp. 30,696,000.
