Abstract

In the industrial world, which is growing rapidly, the need for energy is also increasing. Many research efforts have been carried out on heat exchangers which are usually used as heat dissipators, mixture separators, and sterilizers. By obtaining maximum results and being able to support the process of a fabrication operation, good performance is expected. Fin is one of the important components of a double pipe heat exchanger, fin is used as a thermal barrier in the heat energy transfer process which serves to provide contact time or stay of the working fluid indirectly. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of delta wing type fin on a double pipe heat exchanger based on the TEMA standard, which is expected to have optimal performance. The object of this research is the delta wing on a double pipe heat exchanger with a distance of 25 mm, 30 mm and 35 mm delta wing, the type of fin used is in the form of a delta. Data retrieval was obtained by using a thermocontrol flowmeter and pressure gauge. It has been successfully developed a delta wing type fin on a double pipe heat exchanger that can work well in exchanging two fluids (water) counterflow with 16087,75 pa a cold fluid flow capacity of 6 lpm and a hot fluid flow of 4 lpm with a pressure drop of 16087,75 pa, and there is no system leaks when a physical test is carried out which makes the data valid for pressure drop data collection. Thus this heat exchanger can be used to simulate the pressure drop process on the heat exchanger.
