RANCANG BANGUN VARIASI SUDUT KEMIRINGAN SEMI-CIRCULAR PERFORATED BAFFLE DENGAN SEMI-CIRCULAR FINS PADA DOUBLE PIPE HEAT EXCHANGER

Abstract

Many types of heat exchangers are designed and used in the power generation, oil and gas, petrochemical and other industries as one of the components in the work cycle in industry. Double pipe heat exchanger (DPHE) is a type of heat exchanger that is commonly found in several industries, one of which is as a pre heater feed water before entering the boiler. Semi-circular perforated baffle (SCPB) is one of the additional components in the double pipe heat exchanger. Semicircular perforated insulation is used as a thermal barrier in the heat energy transfer process which functions to provide contact or residence time of the working fluid indirectly. In this study, the focus is on how to design and build an SSPB which will later be carried out in the stages of testing and data collection, then the results of the data collection will be processed. The SSPB design and fabrication process must use the help of 3D CAD and 2D CAD software and then at the fabrication stage must use a microfiber CNC machine that is capable of cutting copper plates with a thickness below 1 mm without causing melting. After the design and fabrication process was carried out, the results obtained were an increase in the surface area of ​​the heat coating from variations of the inclination angle of 90o, 60o and 45o of 0.21, 0.22 and 0.25 m2 from variations without additional SCPB, namely variations of plain inner pipes/ the original is equal to 0.11 m2.
