Abstract

The need for electricity supply has relatively increased every year, while coal as a PLTU fuel has experienced price increases and high demand for exports has caused coal in Indonesia to use low quality. By paying attention to the aspects of fuel factors and operating parameters on boiler performance to be efficient using the ASME PTC 4 method. This study analyzes coal quality in the form of HHV values for boiler efficiency and coal mass flow rate and heat loss distribution in CFB Unit 3 PLTU Jeranjang type boilers. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of coal quality in the form of HHV values on boiler efficiency and the effect of coal quality on the mass flow rate of coal fuel. The coal used has an HHV value of 4,125 kcal/kg, 4,154 kcal/kg, 4,247 kcal/kg, 4,103 kcal/kg, 3,880 kcal/kg. Data collection uses operating data, boiler specifications and coal content data. The research data were analyzed descriptively and theoretically calculated. In this study, the effect of coal quality in the form of HHV values on boiler efficiency with the highest efficiency results was 83.88% at HHV 4,125 kcal/kg and the lowest was 80.52%% at HHV 4,103 kcal/kg with the greatest heat loss due to dry flue gas. , combustion of H2, and fuel moisture. With the largest difference in flow rate of input coal and heat input, namely 5,779 kg/h at HHV 4,247 kcal/kg and the smallest, namely 577 kg/h at HHV 4,125 kcal/kg due to the high moisture in the fuel and the difference between input coal and heat input because it does not high carbon was identified in unburned coal during sampling.
