Abstract

Increased demand for gas leads to increased need for fuel. This will lead to a shortage of fuel supplies, and we will have to look for alternative energy sources to overcome this: biomass. One type of biomass is wood pellets, which have the potential to become a renewable energy source in the future.

This study used experimental research methods to determine the effects of his 30°, 60° and 90° variable valve openings (ball valves) on syngas hoses with carburetor generators in downdraft. increase. Data searches were performed to determine the thermal efficiency of the kiln, the power produced by the kiln when loaded, the effective flame duration, the type of fire produced, and the kiln fire height. It is made by gasifying 60% charcoal and 40% wood pellets. As a result, the highest thermal efficiency is achieved at 90° valve opening, which is 4.87%. The maximum output value that can be generated with a valve opening angle of 90° is 19.5 kW. Effective flame time to boil 1 kg of water from 90° valve opening is 16 minutes. The type of fire produced is diffusion. Maximum flame height at 90º valve opening is 14 cm. It was found that the larger the valve opening in the syngas hose, the better. However, on the other hand, further testing is needed, such as the effect of the number of orifice diameters on the burner, the shape of the burner, and the diameter of the air holes on the burner.
