ANALISIS PENGARUH HIGH DOME PISTON TERHADAP TEKANAN EFEKTIF RATA-RATA DAN EFISIENSI THERMAL MESIN SEPEDA MOTOR HONDA SUPRA X 125 PGM-FI

Abstract

The development of transportation technology in Indonesia is very rapid and the type of private vehicle that is widely used in Indonesia is a motorcycle. Developments that occur in motorbikes are not only happening in the latest release of a vehicle, but also spare parts that have experienced development and many have undergone modifications. Modification of a vehicle aims to get better engine performance than standard conditions. This is done by changing the specifications of a component on the vehicle or by adding additional components. One of the motorcycle components that is often modified and the current trend is the piston. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of changes in standard piston to high dome piston for average effective pressure and thermal efficiency of the 2015 Honda Supra X 125 PGM-FI motorcycle.The research method used in this study is the experimental method. The independent variable in this study is the standard piston and high dome piston on the Honda Supra X 125 PGM-FI motorcycle engine. The dependent variable in this research is average effective pressure, and thermal efficiency. The research procedure was carried out in accordance with the SAE J1349 test standard "Engine Test Code-Spark Ignition and Compression Ignition-Net Power Rating" (SAE, 1995). Data analysis techniques in this study are quantitative and qualitative descriptive statistics.The results showed that there was the average effective pressure increase is 12.85%, and the thermal efficiency increase is 12.27% with the use of high dome pistons when compared to standard pistons.
