Abstract

Many studies have been conducted to improve the efficiency of shell and tube type heat exchangers so that the production process can run optimally, the important component of the shell and tube that most dominantly affects the effectiveness value is the baffle component. Using the experimental method with baffle cut variations of 20%, 30%, and 40% in the triple segmental type shell and tube, the data collection process starts from the input of cold water fluid in the shell (Tcin) temperature of 30 ° C with a water discharge of 6 lpm and hot water fluid input in the tube (Thout) temperature of 80 ° C with a discharge of 4 lpm, the two fluids enter the shell tube so that the heat exchange process occurs, then taking data on the temperature of the dingan fluid out (Tcout), hot fluid out (Thout), and hot water pressure in (Pin) and out (Pout). The temperature and pressure values are the initial data for calculating the effectiveness and pressure drop values.
