Abstract

This research aims to determine the optimal quality of bio briquettes mixed with coconut shells and banana stem as raw materials. The research method used was an experiment by mixing the two raw materials to make biobriquettes and then analyzing them. The variables used in this research were a mixture of coconut shells and banana fronds. The composition of the mixture of coconut shells and banana stems is respectively 100%:0%, 90%:10%, 70%:30%, 50%:50%, and 0%:100%. The adhesive used is 5% molasses. weight of raw material mixture. Both briquettes were tested for quality including heating value, air content, ash content, volatile matter content, and bound carbon content. From the research results, the best mixture of coconut shell and banana stem is 90%:10%, calorific value 5383.84 cal/g, water content 2.1%, ash content 8.63%, volatile matter content 14.24%, bound carbon content 77.13%. From the results of the biobriquette analysis, it meets SNI and it can be concluded that from the results of the characteristics of biobriquettes, it can be used as an alternative material.
