Abstract

One of the connection processes that is often used is the SMAW (Shield Metal Arc Welding) welding process. At the company PT Unilever Indonesia Tbk, in the industry of making bar soap (Personal Wash). The process of mixing soap chips, colors and perfumes is carried out by a stirrer (blade) using stainless steel metal material. With heavy soap chips, the stirrer blade is often broken by heavy loads even though welding has been done. The purpose of this study is to determine whether there is an effect of current variation on 304 Stainless steel material on Micro Structure and bending testing. This research is an experimental research. In this study, 304 stainless steel plate will be welded by SMAW method with NSN-308 electrode with a diameter of 3.2 mm and using a current of 100, 115, and 130 A. then specimen formation is carried out and Micro Structure test and bending strength using ATSM E290 standard. The experimental data were analyzed by one way anova method and t-test. The results of this study are that there is a significant effect on the results of variations in current and electrode diameter in 304 stainless steel material on Micro Structure and bending strength. Micro structure changes that have good micro photo results, namely having a good ferrite phase, are in the 115 A welding current variation. The highest bending value is 1288.730 N/mm2 current variation 115 A and the lowest bending strength value is 1217.397 N/mm2 current variation 100 A.
