PENGARUH KONSENTRASI EKSTRAK DAUN JAMBU BIJI (PSIDIUM GUAJAVA) TERHADAP LAJU KOROSI MATERIAL TEMBAGA PADA INTI RADIATOR MOBIL
Abstract
In this modern era, the use of copper metal is increasingly widespread, one of which is in radiators. In companies like PT. Jakarta Teknologi Utama and the radiator repair industry, one of the causes of engine overheating is the buildup of scale and corrosion on the inner surface of the radiator cooling system, which inhibits the circulation of cooling water. Therefore, the main problem faced by radiators is to find effective and efficient corrosion control methods to protect them. This research is experimental research. In this research, copper samples were taken from the radiator core and corrosion inhibitors were made from guava leaf extract (Psidium guajava) using the maceration method. Then, the corrosion test was carried out using the weight loss method, where the sample was weighed to determine its initial weight, then soaked for 7 days with varying concentrations of guava leaf extract inhibitors of 0% and 10% in the corrosive medium of well water. Experimental data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA and t-test methods. The results showed that variations in extract concentration and soaking duration had a significant influence on the corrosion rate and efficiency of guava leaf extract on car radiator core copper material. The highest corrosion rate occurred in specimens without the addition of guava leaf extract (0% concentration) after 7 days of soaking, namely 0.024 mm/y. On the other hand, the lowest corrosion rate of 0.006 mm/y and the highest inhibition efficiency of 72% were obtained from the addition of guava leaf extract at a concentration of 10%.
