Chicken eggshell waste can be used as raw material for making hydroxyapatite biomaterial because it contains ± 94% carbonic acid (CaCO3) which is the basic material for making hydroxyapatite. This research aims to determine the effect of precursor volume on the purity of hydroxyapatite synthesized from purebred chicken egg shells using the sol gel method. This research was carried out by varying the volume of H3PO4 precursor (10, 25, 50, 75 ml). The results of the research were characterized using the XRD (X-ray Diffraction) test and the SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope) test. From the XRD testing, the sample with a H3PO4 precursor volume of 25 ml was the best because it had a purity of 84% and a crystallinity level of 89.9%. Meanwhile, from the SEM test, it was found that there was a change in the granular shape and the gaps between the particles became wider as the volume of H3PO4 increased.
