Abstract

Technological developments and population growth have led to an ever-increasing demand for energi. Indonesia's mountainous and hilly topography, along with the presence of lakes and reservoirs serving as the headwaters of rivers, offer significant potential for hydropower as a primary energi source. Pelton turbines are a type of turbine used in micro-hydro power plants (MHPs). Pelton turbine selection is based on their efficiency. This study aims to determine the effect of the number of bowl blades on optimal power and efficiency .This study uses an experimental method by varying the number of blades of 8, 10, and 12 on the Pelton turbine. The bowl-shaped blades will be tested with variations in water capacity of 0.00229 /s, 0.0026 /s, 0.00328 /s, 0.00449 /s using a nozzle with a diameter of 25.4 mm. Variations in loading will be tested at 500 grams, 1000 grams, 1500 grams to obtain power and efficiency on the Pelton turbine. Based on the testing and calculations of this research. The results of the research on the variation of the number of single bowl spoons, namely the number of spoons 8, 10, and 12. The highest power is located at the number of spoons 10 with a flow capacity of 0.00449 /s at a load of 35 kg with a power value of 49.1267 Watts. The highest efficiency is located at the variation of the number of spoons 10 with a flow capacity of 0.00229 /s at a load of 10 kg with an efficiency value of 46.29%.
