Abstract

The aim of this research is to test whether group counseling using cognitive restructuring techniques is effective in increasing students' academic resilience. Academic resilience is the ability of students to overcome stress and challenges during the learning process. Cognitive restructuring techniques help students identify and replace negative thought patterns that may be hindering their academic success. This research uses a quantitative type of research with an experimental design. Five of the 34 students had unreliable academic records and were therefore suitable candidates to participate in five group counseling sessions. Research findings show that students' academic resilience increases after participating in the cognitive restructuring group counseling program. Data analysis using the Wilcoxon test produced an Asymp.Sig (2-tailed) value of 0.042. Because this value is less than 0.05, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected, stating that cognitive restructuring techniques in group counseling are effective in increasing students' academic resilience. These results suggest that use of this technique can help students develop psychological resilience, manage academic stress, and achieve better academic outcomes. This study suggests integrating cognitive restructuring techniques into school counseling programs to support students' emotional and academic well-being.
