PERSPEKTIF MASYARAKAT NGANJUK TERHADAP OLAHRAGA SEBAGAI KEWAJIBAN DAN GAYA HIDUP

Abstract

Basically, exercise is a basic need that is important for body health. Humans are unique individuals with different characteristics. Therefore, each community has a different mindset and busyness so that the level of community sports participation is also not the same. This study aims to determine the type, frequency, and duration of sports in Nganjuk Regency and to find out the main purpose of the community to participate in sports. This type of research is descriptive research with a quantitative approach. The population in this study is the people of Nganjuk Regency. The research was conducted in April-May; the data collection technique used was by distributing questionnaires. The results showed that 38% of the population underwent light exercise such as walking and playing chess, 35% underwent jogging, cycling, gymnastics and 27% underwent vigorous exercise, such as volleyball, football, and basketball. Sports frequency data shows that 35% of Nganjuk people exercise with a frequency of 1-2 times a month, 33% with a frequency of 1-2 times a week, 15% with a frequency of 3-5 times a week, 10% with a frequency of 6-7 times or every day, and 7% had never exercised in the past month. The majority of exercise with a duration of 10-20 minutes (25%). The purpose of sports participation for health gets the highest index score, which is 90.25 (M=3.61), skill development with a score of 75.81 (M=3.03), image with a value of 73.44 (M=2.94), social affiliation with a value of 71.38 (M=2.86), and social recognition with a value of 53.56 (M=2.14). The conclusion of the research is that the Nganjuk community more often does light exercise; the frequency of sports in the Nganjuk community is in the low category. The majority of Nganjuk people exercise with the main aim of maintaining health.
