Berdasarkan pengalaman pada saat Program Pengelolaan Pembelajaran (PPP) dan observasi di sekolah SMK Negeri 1 Mojokerto proses pendidikan masih menggunakan model pembelajran konvensional sehingga kurangnya keterlibatan siswa dalam proses pembelajaran, dimana pembelajaran lebih didominasi oleh keterlibatan guru. Oleh sebab itu, aktivitas siswa terhadap proses pembelajaran rendah, hal tersebut berpengaruh terhadap hasil belajar siswa yang masih rendah dengan ditunjukkan aktivitas belajar peserta didik yang kurang aktif dan cenderung pasif. Berdasarkan masalah tersebut dikembangkan suatu model pembelajaran yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kualitas proses pembelajaran yaitu dengan menerapkan model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning.

Jenis penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang menggunakan dua siklus dengan subjek penelitian kelas X TKR SMK Negeri 1 Mojokerto tahun ajaran 2018/2019 yang berjumlah 36 peserta didik. Pada mata pelajaran Teknik Dasar Otomotif (TDO) kompetensi dasar yang di ajarkan adalah memahami rangkaian kelistrikan sederhana yang dilakukan dalam dua siklus yang tiap siklus terdapat tahap perencanaan, pelaksanaan, pengamatan, dan refleksi. Siklus I materi yang diajarkan adalah rangkaian kelistrikan seri-pararel sedangkan pada siklus II materi yang diajarkan yaitu rangkain kelistrikan gabungan. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah observasi dan tes yang diaplikasikan dalam bentuk instrumen penelitian.

Hasil penelitian Aktivitas peserta didik dengan penerapan model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning pada siklus I sebesar 60,4% dan meningkat di siklus II menjadi 78%. Kemudian untuk hasil belajar peserta didik, ranah kognitif pada siklus I sebesar 61% dan meningkat di siklus II dengan hasil 86%.

Based on experience during the Learning Management Program and school observations at SMK Negeri 1 Mojokerto, teaching and learning process used the conventional models that dominated by teacher and made the students less active. Therefore, the low activity of students towards the learning process affected students learning outcomes that were still low by showing learning activities of students who were less active and tend to be passive. Based on these problems, this research is aimed to develop a teaching and learning model which improve the quality of the teaching and learning process by applying Problem Based Learning model.

This research based on Classroom Action Research (CAR) which used two cycles. The research trials were conducted on 36 students of SMK Negeri 1 Mojokerto grade X TKR in the 2018/2019 school year. In the Basic Automotive Engineering subject, the basic competencies are understanding the simple electrical circuit that is carried out in two cycles, each cycle of which is planning, implementing, observing and reflecting. The cycle I of material was a series of parallel electrical series, while in second cycle of the material was a series of electrical joints. Data collection techniques used the observation and tests which applied in the form of research instruments.

The results of the students’ activities with the application of Problem Based Learning model in the first cycle was 60.4% and increased in the second cycle to 78%. Then for the students learning outcomes, the cognitive domain in the first cycle was 61% and increased in the second cycle with a result of 86%.
