Abstract

Blitar city rock climbing already has good achievements, but in speed numbers, rock climbing athletes always get time or limits that do not meet the target, according to (Subarjah 2012)) when an athlete has decreased performance this can be caused by several factors, namely physical, technique and mental. Physical factors can be improved, one of which is using exercises in the form of ladder drills and cone drills. Both exercises are exercises that can increase speed and agility. Based on the background, the researcher took the title "THE EFFECT OF LADDER DRILL AND CONE DRILL TRAINING ON INCREASING SPEED AND FOOT LEVEL (Speed ​​Climbing Athletes Blitar City)". The purpose of this study was made to determine which exercise is more effective in increasing the speed and agility of the athlete's foot speed rock climbing in Blitar City.

This type of research is a quantitative experimental research with a case study approach. This study used a pretest and post-test design with group division techniques using ordinal pairing and divided into 2 groups, namely group 1 was given ladder drill training and group 2 cone drill. The population used was 10 male rock climbing athletes. This research was conducted in Blitar City and carried out for 6 weeks and practiced 3 times a week in the form of ladder drill and cone drill exercises. The results of the study prove that the Ladder Drill and Cone Drill exercises have a result of P <0.05 on speed and P <0.05 on agility and P> 0.05 on the speed rock climbing test.
