Abstract

East Java Province has historically been recognized as a key indicator of sporting success in Indonesia. With a remarkable history of achievements and a structured development system, East Java has consistently been one of the provinces to be reckoned with in every National Sports Week (PON) event. Through a systematic and comprehensive analysis of the participation and achievements of East Java's sports contingent in PON XXI Aceh – North Sumatra 2024, it is hoped that a clear picture of East Java's position and performance in sports at the national level can be obtained, along with recommendations for the development and enhancement of sports achievements in the future. This type of research employs a descriptive approach, utilizing data collection techniques such as literature review, observation, and documentation. Data analysis is conducted through descriptive analysis. Sampling is carried out using purposive sampling, focusing on 77 sports disciplines as research subjects out of a total of 86 disciplines competing in PON XXI Aceh – North Sumatra 2024. The results of the study indicate that the performance of the East Java contingent has stagnated, as evidenced by the rankings achieved in PON XX Papua compared to PON XXI Aceh – North Sumatra 2024.
