Abstract

Physical condition is an essential factor supporting sprint athletes' performance and therefore needs to be evaluated regularly as a basis for developing effective training programs. This study aimed to analyze the physical condition of sprint athletes at the East Java Regional Training Center (Puslatda) in 2024. This research employed a quantitative approach using a descriptive ex post facto method based on secondary data obtained from athletes' physical fitness test results. The sample consisted of 16 sprint athletes selected using the total sampling technique. The research instruments included the sit-up, single-leg squat, hanging leg raise, chin-up, 3RM clean, vertical jump, standing triple jump, Wattbike, sit and reach, upper body flexibility, and Multistage Fitness Test (MFT). Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics based on the physical fitness norms established by the East Java National Sports Committee (KONI East Java). The results showed that the overall physical condition of the sprint athletes was categorized as good. Most physical components, including muscular strength, muscular endurance, explosive power, flexibility, and aerobic capacity, achieved good performance levels, although several components still require improvement through more specific training programs. Therefore, regular physical condition evaluation can serve as a basis for designing training programs to enhance athletes' performance and competitive achievement.
