ANALISIS VO2MAX PADA ATLET TAEKWONDO KOTA SURABAYA

Abstract
An athlete’s endurance level can be assessed by their vo2max. vo2max is the highest measure of the amount of oxygen the body can utilize during strenuous physical activity. vo2max is a physical component required in almost all sports, including taekwondo. Vo2max is the maximum oxygen consumption during intense exercise until exhaustion, reflecting the ability of the heart and lungs to distribute oxygen to the muscles for aerobic energy production. The higher the vo2max, the better the endurance during prolonged activities, preventing early fatigue. An athlete’s endurance level can be assessed based on their vo2max fitness. The purpose of this study was to determine the physical fitness standards for vo2max among taekwondo athletes in Surabaya. The vo2max levels of taekwondo athletes in Surabaya had a mean of 46.79, a median of 47.1, a minimum value of 41.1, and a maximum value of 55.4. One athlete fell into the “good” category, three into the “moderate” category, nine into the “poor” category, and three into the “very poor” category. It can be concluded that, on average, taekwondo athletes in Surabaya fall into the “poor” category. Several factors contribute to Surabaya City taekwondo athletes being classified as “inadequate,” including the training programs provided by coaches, facilities and infrastructure, and the individual athletes’ physical condition. Additionally, the individual athletes’ physiological factors also influence their vo2max endurance levels.
