ASPEK HIERARKI KEBUTUHAN BERTINGKAT TOKOH UTAMA DALAM NOVEL VEGETARIAN KARYA HAN KANG: KAJIAN TEORI PSIKOLOGI HUMANISTIK ABRAHAM MASLOW

Sastra dan kenyataan hidup adalah hal yang tidak dapat dipisahkan. Kenyataan yang terjadi dalam kehidupan obyektif tercermin dalam karya sastra dalam bentuk realita imajinatif. Penelitian ini adalah tentang bentuk hierarki kebutuhan manusia yang tersirat dalam tokoh yang ada di dalam karya sastra, yakni novel. Penelitian ini berjudul “Aspek Hierarki Kebutuhan Bertingkat Tokoh Utama Dalam Novel Vegetarian Karya Han Kang: Kajian Teori Psikologi Humanistik Abraham Maslow”. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membahas serta mengetahui bagaimana kebutuhan bertingkat tokoh utama dalam novel Vegetarian karya Han Kang yang meliputi (1) kebutuhan fisiologis, (2) kebutuhan akan rasa aman, (3) kebutuhan akan cinta dan memiliki, (4) kebutuhan akan harga diri, (5) kebutuhan aktualisasi diri berdasarkan teori psikologi humanistik Abraham Maslow.

Penelitian ini menggunakan teori hirarki kebutuhan bertingkat Abraham Maslow yang mengungkapkan tingkah laku manusia lebih ditentukan oleh kecenderungan individu untuk mencapai tujuan agar kehidupan si individu lebih berbahagia sekaligus memuaskan. Penelitian ini menggunakan teknik dokumentatif untuk mengumpulkan data dengan melakukan data reduction atau data selection, sedangkan metode analisis datanya menggunakan metode analisis deskriptif. Langkah-langkah analisis yang digunakan ialah baca dan catat, menggarisbawahi, serta pengelompokan data ke dalam tabel data dan yang terakhir membuat simpulan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, diperoleh data yang menunjukkan bahwa kebutuhan bertingkat tokoh utama novel Vegetarian yang bernama Young Hye sudah terpenuhi dengan cukup baik.

Literature and the reality of life cannot be separated. The fact that happens in objective life is reflected into literary work in the form of imaginative reality. This research concerns about the form of human needs hierarchy which is reflected in the main figure of a literary work namely novel. This study entitled “The Hierarchichal Aspect of the Multilevel Needs of the Main Figure in Vegetarian Novel by Han Kang: A Theoretical Study of Abraham Maslows Humanistic Psychology”. This research will explore about how the multilevel needs of the main figure in Vegetarian novel by Han Kang is, which includes (1) physiological needs, (2) security needs, (3) the needs for love and possessing, (4) the self-concept needs, and (5) the self actualization needs based on Abraham Maslow’s theory of humanistic psychology.

This research is based on the hierarchichal needs theory of Abraham Maslow who claimed that human behavior is more determined by the tendency of individuals to achieve goals so that their life becomes more cheerful and satisfying. The research uses the documentative technique to collect the data by completing the data reduction or data selection, while the applied methods of data analysis is descriptive analysis. The steps of analyzing are reading and noting, underlining, and grouping the data into the corpus of data’s table, and also making a conclusion as the final step. Based on the results of the study, the obtained data shows that the multilevel needs of the main character of the Vegetarian novel named Young Hye had been fulfilled quite well.
